Can i cheer for the oilers?

I guess the answer is yes and last night was one of those times.As a Flames fan, I am aware it is favorable to not cheer for the Oilers, but I see no harm in cheering for them when circumstances allow. For instance, last year’s playoffs, when Calgary was knocked out by (UGH!) Anaheim, I wholeheartedly cheered on the Oilers and wished them the best of luck, and hoped they would whoop the Ducks as a favor to us, which they did.
I know not all fans think the same way I do, but my request to the Edmonton Oilers and their fans is, I hate to see you guys lose so many games, so if you guys try your hardest to snap your losing streak and help us shake off the Avs from taking our playoff spot, the Calgary Flames will do everything in their power to bring the cup home to Alberta. Thanks you for beating the Avalanche last night and assisting in our playoff run.

To cheer for the Oilers is okay in only certain circumstances.
1. If they are playing Toronto. Because no matter how much we hate Edmonton, there is just something so bad about Toronto that even Edmonton winning against them seems right.
2. When they are playing a team that is close to us, points-wise, and they will be helping us by taking them out.
3. We have no other Canadian team in the playoffs and then they become the default for Nationality purposes.
Your reason seems to fit Reason #2 so it is deemed acceptable to watch, but make sure while watching you don’t start cheering too hard or you will get kicked out of the club, not to mention cheering for the Oilers can make you blind. (Heard this one from a friend of a friend, don’t know if it’s true. but do you really want to take the chance).
Cheering for the oilers is not okay….maybe when…nope not okay, even in default-yep I said it. If they were to win the cup we would never hear the end of it.
Well being a die hard flames fan and an avid oiler hater…i am torn on this. the age old rivalry would have us not permitted to cheer for a team that we loath all season long in the battle of alberta, but i do see where you are coming from, the oilers have had a tough go of it this past couple months and there win against colorado really does help us in the long run…i guess now i just feel bad for them and anything they can do to help us out is a good thing. but i dont know if i can truly ever cheer for them…my conscious just wont let me.
In no way is it ever okay to cheer for Edmonton in anything, yes i hate the oilers and well im a galgary boy and dislike a lot about the “chuck”. as the statement ABE Anything But Edmonton goes it is not okay to EVER cheer for Edmonton. I for one was very glad Fan 960 in calgary became the home of the hurricanes for the stanley cup finals. Maybe im overboard but i dont like Edmonton.
